The Black Planes formed in 2017 when Friction Pitch founder Dan Gallagher departed the band to pursue a darker, heavier sound. Gallagher had a novel moment with Seattle radio when he released the Indie Pop nugget, The Ride* in December 2015. Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist John Boudreau (front man of The Pro and the Con and Dirty Pots) joined the touring band in 2018. The music is synth and guitar driven dark psychedelic rock. Influences include Tame Impala, Jesus and Mary Chain, Moon Duo, and too many 70's and 80's psychedelic rock bands to list here.
